Generally speaking, a more comfortable ride can be achieved when a vehicle’s tire sidewall has been maximized due to the amount of “cushion” the tire has when handling bumps. A tire’s sidewall is the vertical area on the side of the tire between the edge of the tread and the bead of the wheel.

Due to the fact that tire diameter is limited, the larger the wheel diameter, the less tire sidewall, which ultimately leads to a less comfortable ride.

Matte finish will reflect little to no light, satin finish retains a moderate sheen, whereas gloss finishes reflect the most light and have the most sheen.

Satin and matte finishes are preferred for durability and easiness to keep clean. Gloss finish on the other hand offers more prominence but will easily show dirt, brake dust, and other debris found on the road.
